The Alpha UPKUDO Fitness Center belongs to the UPKUDO International Karate Federation founded by 9th Dan Grand Master Gary L. Baker, fondly known to the fighting world as the "Human Tornado". Grand Master Baker was inducted into the World Hall of Fame in 1993 and was established as the Founder and Grand Master of the style of UPKUDO for his outstanding accomplishments as a competitor and instructor as well as his contribution to the Martial Arts world with his unique style. The Federation Office and Alpha UPKUDO are under the direction of Federation President Master Anne Radke as are the three other UPKUDO Schools located throughout Florida.      The members of the UPKUDO International Karate Federation have united together for a common goal: to uphold the dignity of martial arts and utilize not only the physical and mental skills of karate in the classes they teach, but spiritual aspects as well. UPKUDO is a unique style of martial art not only in its fighting but in its philosophy as well. Students learn from the beginning to be respectful, loving, and disciplined. The atmosphere is one that believes in positive input with a strong emphasis on family unity.      Each person is appreciated for their uniqueness and what they have to offer to the art. From the first day, each member is taught two important philosophies of the power of "Positive Thinking" and that "Love Always Wins". We find our strengths in love of our family and faith in God. In addition, members of the Federation gain the self-respect, control, and confidence they need to face the ever-changing world.      UPKUDO uses primarily three approaches in tournament sparring: aggressive, non-aggressive and counter attack. It is designed to take away the opponent's best technique. UPKUDO trains their students to be technicians that use their hands as much as their feet.
