Internet Safety Course for Children

     On Tuesday December 9th, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement came to Alpha UPKUDO Karate school to teach the parents and children about Internet Safety. The presenter, Mary McLaughlin, gave the following tips for On line Safety.

FOR CHILDREN
1. Keep all your personal information to yourself
2. Always use a neutral screen name
3. Never give out your picture or post it online
4. Don't give out passwords to anyone other than your parents
5. Don't trust everyone you meet on line
6. If you come across anything that makes you uncomfortable, tell your parents
7. Ask your parents before meeting an online buddy in person

FOR PARENTS
1. Create rules for Internet use in the home
2. Know what your kids are doing online
3. Use the Internet with your kids
4. don't allow solitary surfing
5. If you agree to let your child meet an online buddy in person, go with them
6. Don't rely solely on technology as a substitute for you
